The museum presents a comprehensive overview of Vietnam’s military history, with a focus on key conflicts, including the resistance against French colonization and the Vietnam War. Indoor exhibits are arranged chronologically and include maps, uniforms, documents, and personal artifacts. Outside, a collection of large-scale military equipment such as tanks, jet aircraft, and artillery pieces is displayed in open-air settings.
A visit typically requires 60 to 90 minutes. To understand the exhibits in more depth, visitors may find it helpful to use a translation app or an audio guide, as explanatory signage is mostly in Vietnamese. The museum provides a layered educational experience, especially appealing to those with an interest in wartime history and military technology.
Though no longer within walking distance of Hanoi’s main historical attractions, the museum remains a unique destination for those looking to understand the country’s past through the lens of military struggle.
